A “recycled” umbrella must say which part is: the textile policy becomes mandatory on September 27
A recycled-material claim needs documents and a precise scope: fabric alone does not automatically represent the whole umbrella.

A promotional umbrella can carry a recycled-material statement, but the wording needs to match evidence and the specific part it covers. From September 27, 2026, textile-standard claims enter a mandatory implementation phase.
Textile Exchange, an organization that develops voluntary textile standards, sets that date for its claims policy. For a corporate purchase, the change brings supporting evidence into focus before “recycled” is printed on the umbrella.
In Colombia, Decree 1369 of 2014 requires an environmental claim to be objective and substantiated, and to state whether the attribute applies to the product, its packaging or one component. The advertiser must keep the evidence available to the consumer-protection authority. A statement that covers only the fabric does not automatically describe the complete umbrella.

What changes when quoting promotional umbrellas with recycled material?
A quote is not settled by a label such as rPET, polyester made from recycled plastic, alone. The quoted item should connect the stated percentage to support identifying which umbrella component it covers. This lets a campaign communicate the attribute without assigning it to the handle, ribs, or sleeve when the document covers fabric only.
The Global Recycled Standard, known as GRS, requires at least 50% recycled content for its claim and includes social, environmental, and chemical requirements. RCS follows recycled-content percentages through the chain, but both standards are voluntary. They do not replace Colombian advertising obligations.
When can an umbrella be described as recycled?
The description depends on the current document and the supported component, not on appearance or a generic formula. The most precise wording names the part with recycled content and avoids extending that attribute to the full product. This distinction matters in the printed logo as well as in the text that accompanies the gift.
The final choice of material, color, opening system, and personalization varies by item and order. Availability, lead time, wind resistance, and sun protection depend on the supplier and the project. When selecting custom promotional umbrellas and other promotional gifts, this information can be tied to the quoted item.

Why is documentary support now part of the purchase?
Interest in products with environmental attributes has also increased the need to demonstrate them. The Promotional Products Association International, a promotional-products trade association, reported that one third of surveyed distributors received requests for eco-friendly products in 2025. The figure is an international sector signal and does not measure demand in Medellín or Colombia.
Supporting documents can change with the item, the order date, and the claim’s scope. A comparable quote identifies the component, the percentage when applicable, and the current document supporting it. That way, the printed message retains the same precision as the commercial information behind it.
